Rene Breitbarth - Biography Take a listen to Rene Breitbarth's productions, and you'll find that his original hometown has obviously had a great effect on his sound. Taking the hypnotic qualities of techno and adding the swing of classic house, there is a melodicism to his work that is unmistakably Cologne. Rene Breitbarth fell in love with electronic music in the early '90s whilst clubbing at the city's Space and Warehouse venues, and it was his experiences there that convinced him to start producing his own tracks and put out several white labels which he sells to the local record shops. The next step for Breitbarth was the launch of the Treibstoff label with co-founder Marcel Janovsky in 1997, which they continue to run after more than ten years on the scene. Apart from his releases on Treibstoff - which include two full-lengths and countless singles - Breitbarth has contributed to labels such as Treibstoff, Sub Static, Poker Flat, Spectral Sound and Dessous, even proving himself as an advocate of the digital scene with the first release on Jay Haze's Textone netlabel. With this continuous output he gained fans worldwide from Deep House to Techno at an early stage, being a guarantor for worn-out dancefloors and the right feeling for dry house grooves and harmonic sensibility. He's looking to carry this on with his digital-only label, Deep Data, which was launched just a few months ago. Deep Data is an artist platform for his deep/housey tracks with total independence. It's a digital label mainly, but he is also planning on 'best of' vinyl releases in the near future and will bring out other artists there as well. From the very start Rene Breitbarth soon earns a good reputation as a House purist with a fun approach, and with an increasing number of releases and international bookings, as a true peaktime act with a broad range of cutting-edge dance music. As a DJ, Breitbarth indulges both the housier and more techno sides of his sound, and can often be found spinning marathon sets at Club der Visionäre in his new hometown of Berlin. Since 2004, in connection with his 2nd album ‘With a little luck’, Rene has his first of many appearances as a live act, and again he achieves full score with the dancers. |
